Background and Introduction
Independence and Early Challenges
South Sudan, the world’s youngest nation, gained independence in 2011 with hopes for peace, stability, and development. However, conflict soon followed, reversing progress and causing widespread displacement, loss of life, and destruction of infrastructure. Although the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement marked an important step toward recovery, its implementation remains fragile, and many communities continue to face insecurity, poverty, and limited access to basic services.
Humanitarian and Socio-Economic Impact
The prolonged conflict has had severe humanitarian and socio-economic impacts. Women and girls have been disproportionately affected due to increased vulnerability, while essential systems such as healthcare, education, and livelihoods have been deeply disrupted.
Foundations of Africa Action for Inclusive Development (AAID)
In response to these challenges, Africa Action for Inclusive Development (AAID) was established to support vulnerable populations and contribute to sustainable recovery.
Mission and Commitment
AAID is committed to improving lives through inclusive, community-driven programs that restore dignity, strengthen resilience, and promote long-term development.
